Riverwise Writing Workshop: Photography and Storytelling

January 27 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Sacred (Tiara Overstreet-Amos) will help people find their passion, follow it through, and be as confident and empowered as possible. Children and caregivers will enjoy a crash course in the basics of storytelling through the art of photography. They will learn how to use their camera in manual mode while telling their story visually. Being marginalized in any community you feel like your story, your vision, you, don’t matter. Let’s teach the people how to tell a story through the camera lens.

This is the second of a four-part series. We hope to produce many images that, together or separately, tell a compelling story about our communities.

This is a free event and a light lunch will be served.

The Riverwise Writing Workshop was made possible by a Detroit Journalism Engagement Fund (DJEF) grant from the The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan with additional funding provided by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Ford Foundation.
