Liberty Town Hall on Facial Recognition

State Rep. Isaac Robinson (D-Detroit) will be holding a town hall on Monday, July 29, at 11 am. at the Historic King Solomon Baptist Church, 6100 14th St. in Detroit regarding his legislation to ban the use of facial recognition software. Robinson will be joined by several special guests to discuss various other topics including implications of the Detroit Police Department’s proposal and Mayor Duggan’s letter. The town hall will include a presentation by Clare Garvie, Senior Associate, Georgetown’s Center on Privacy & Technology. She will discuss the privacy, civil rights and civil liberties risks of police face recognition and share what the Center has learned about DPD’s face recognition system.
