Peace taps gently and places a toe just over the threshold…
Peeking into the house as it cracks the front door…
“Hellooo… hellooo… hellooo… hellooo….”
It’s echo resounding off the walls
Of a now, very quiet place…Nearly empty
Ransacked by tragedy
Raped by disappointment
Devastated by grief
Gutted by despair
And eventually abandoned by sorrow
Peace knows me well though
It does not expect to find me sitting in a corner
Rocking back and forth, as if overly distraught
It has been a great friend
Always leaving enough support to manage until their return
Following the sounds of movement in the kitchen
They find me…
Spooning Gratefulness into my freshly brewed cup of Love
Stirring slowly as I smile
Their friends are already here and stand to offer greetings
Joy sheds a few tears at the very sight of him
Hope leans its head on my shoulder and smiles
Faith pulls over the extra chair
And as I turn to pour an extra cup of Love
Peace reaches out to embrace us all
Their essence flowing thru me
As their hands wrap around mine on the hot cup
I look into his eyes and exhale deeply…”We’ve been expecting you”, I say…
We kiss, we sit, we sip…Then lean back
And quietly bask in the glow… Of one another
